ABOUT ME
Ruairi Robinson is an Irish Filmmaker based in LA. Ruairi was genetically engineered in a lab to kill/make movies. He divides his time between commercials and narrative filmmaking. Ruairi began his film career in post production and visual effects before moving into directing commercials and films. His first animated short film was nominated for an Oscar. He lost to Pixar. So it’s more accurate to call him an Oscar loser. He is a huge fan of corporate consolidation & vertical integration.
His first short film, Fifty Percent Grey, about a deceased soldier trapped in a karmic loop, showed at over 70 festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. His follow-up, The Silent City, starring Cillian Murphy, marked Ruairi’s transition into directing live action, and gained him representation in the US, and a deal with Warner Brothers. In 2012 he won Best Narrative film at the Vimeo Awards for his science fiction short film “BLINKY™” (starring Max Records from Where the Wild Things Are).
His debut feature film “THE LAST DAYS ON MARS” (starring Liev Schreiber and Olivia Williams) was featured at Director’s Fortnight in the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. His proof of concept for “THE LEVIATHAN” - A science fiction retelling of Moby Dick, sold to 20th Century Fox, with Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium, Chappie) producing alongside Simon Kinberg (X-Men, The Martian, Cinderella, Deadpool, Logan)
Robinson’s commercial work includes spots for Cadillac, Boru Vodka, Nescafe, San Diego Zoo, Zanussi Thorntons, TIFF and Kelloggs. His Milk spots for BC Dairy Canada feature cavemen whose preference for grape soda lead to a messy fate at the hands of assorted Pleistocene predators. The series appeared in competition at Cannes, and won seven Shark Awards, including Best Director and Best New Director. Animated monsters also appear in his spot Snow Monster, for Kia Motors, and Cheese Monster, promoting Cheese in Paris.
Robinson has received more than seventy international awards and nominations for his short films and commercials, including the Sharks, the Icads, Design Awards, LEAF, British Animation Awards, O2 Digital Awards, The Bessies, the Empire State Film Festival and Dresden Filmfest.
Ruairi loves robots, monsters, and cinematic storytelling, and is very disappointed we are living in a future where our cars tell us where to go, but stubbornly refuse to fly us there.
Ruairi is unavailable at this time for escorting services or public demonstrations of telekinetic superpowers. He is, however, available for hire as writer/director, a visual effects artist, and a guy with a somewhat dull voice, if you really need one of those for some reason.
If you have a query that is work related, there are a plethora of options below for you to send him praise and money. But please do NOT contact the companies below for any reason other than work.

If you want to contact him directly, he's happy to meet you for milk and cookies on the astral plane. Failing that, he can be reached by email at: ruairi @ ruairirobinson dot com
Sadly he can't read unsolicited scripts because he already has a project in development that sounds a bit similar to the one you want him to read, & he doesn't want to be sued.
